With every occurrence, crime affects many people. Victims. Families. Neighbours. The Police.
Although reacting to crime sometimes becomes a necessity, it is still not an effective means of deterring criminals, or protecting victims of crime.
A growing awareness of crime increases your knowledge of what to do in the event crime affects your life. This involves being alert wherever you are, learning to recognize crime and knowing what to do when crime strikes in your area. Helping the Police prevent crime is in everyone's best interest.
That is why Citizens for Crime Awareness and the Winnipeg Police Service have been proactively working together to broaden crime prevention knowledge among private citizens and business owners. The results are positive for all involved. Any crime prevented saves victims and their families, and helps Winnipeg Police Services to focus on those areas of greatest need.
When you see or hear something that might indicate a criminal act is being committed, don't hesitate in calling the Police, as they need your help identifying offenders.
